What Is a Leprechaun?
A Leprechaun is a magical fairy from Irish folklore famous for hiding pots of gold and playing clever tricks on humans. Traditional stories describe Leprechauns as small, bearded men who spend much of their time making shoes for other fairies while carefully protecting their hidden treasure.
Unlike many other fairy creatures, Leprechauns usually live alone. They are known for being extremely intelligent and difficult to catch. According to legend, anyone who captures a Leprechaun must never look away — or the clever fairy will quickly disappear.
Leprechauns stand alongside the Fairy, the Banshee, and other beings of Celtic legend. Explore the full mythical creatures guide to discover more.
